A brief description on Rudra Yagna and its efficacies or benefits are mentioned below:
Yagna is the action done for the benefit of mankind. Yagna is a life sustaining
force as enunciated by Lord Krishna in Gita. Yagna is worship of God through
three faculties: (Manasa, Vacha, Karmana). Manasa by meditating on Lord Shiva,
Vacha by chanting the Mantras, Karmana by offering havan samagri in to
yagnakunda with devotion and faith.
This Yagna is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Rudra Yagna is the most sacred and
powerful among all the Maha Yagnas. It is a very rare that a Yagna of this
significance and magnitude can be witnessed.
Equally rare is the opportunity for the people to actually participate in the
worship here in Dharmakshetra.
The Shree Rudram chant is an ancient Vaidic hymn, and is the oldest example of a
listing of various names of Lord Shiva. Through the chanting of Shree Rudram,
Lord Shiva’s various attributes and aspects are invoked and worshiped. When
accompanied with the Vaidic fire ritual, it is called the Rudra Yagna.
The Rudra Yagna is the most sacred and powerful among all the Maha yagna's which
consists of Deiva Yagna (worship of Shiva and Other deities), and Manushya yagna
(performed with many devotees seeking the grace of the God.
It is performed to wash away all the sins and afflictions, to maintain peace,
prosperity and happiness, and family togetherness.
It is believed that after the demon, Bhasmasura was killed, Lord Shiva performed
the Tandav Nritya(dance) and the "Rudra Yagna", for the betterment of Human.
The Shri Rudra, is the ancient type of a listing of various names of Lord
Shiva. It is considered to be of great benefit to human.Various attributes of
Lord Shiva are invoked by chanting of Shri Rudra.
