The Walk for Values - by Zone 1 of SSSSO Mumbai - 29th November 2015

In Walk for Values an awareness is created so that all can try to live up to one or more of the human values in their lives in the hope that one will make the world richer by giving (one's) commitment to practice values, and character-building.

"By walking together as kindred spirits, we can achieve two things: we can raise awareness of positive human values such as love, truth, non-violence and peace; and more importantly, we can bring attention to the urgent need to practice them in our community and halt the social and environmental ills that impoverish our lives and our spirit

It is for these reasons that SSSSO Mumbai has undertaken this. Over 8 groups from all over Mumbai conducted this " The Walk for Values"

The Walk for Values by Zone 1 was held on November 29, 2015. The walk commenced from Shri Siddhi Vinayak Temple, Prabhadevi at 8 a.m and concluded with the Maha Aarti around 9.00 a,m at Shivaji Park.A huge number of Bal Vikas Children, Gurus, Devotees, School Children participated in this rally.

the speaking tree - A Four-Letter Word That Can Save Our Souls

Shammi Paranjape

Love is the sweetest word in the language of all cultures. It inspires, impassions, moves and delights. It is also the highest, noblest, most stirring emotion that one can experience. Philosophers and poets have dwelt lovingly and at great length on this subject, which holds eternal fascination for each one of us. And why not? It is the substratum of existence; it is life itself.
From love, creation came forth and by love it is sustained. Indic scriptures declare that it was the desire to experience His own love that made the Formless Divine multiply into multifarious forms ... To love you need `the other' and so God created the maya of duality , wherein love could find a platform for expression.

Sri Sathya Sai Baba says, “I must tell you about the paramount importance of love. Love is God, live in love. God is the embodiment of perfect love. He can be known and realised, reached and won, only through love. You can see the moon only through moonlight. You can see God only through the rays of love.“

To know and reach God, all we have to do is love. Isn't it wonderful? It is not about religion, rituals, penance, nor even knowledge of scriptural texts. It is about opening our hearts to the truth and beauty of love which is always yearning for expression. Half of all the frustration and misery in life is the result of this vital channel getting blocked.

Love redeems everything. That pure moment when love is expressed is the `God moment' of everyone's life. Even the wicked have this spark, only it lies buried under layers of darkness. It is just a question of bringing it forth and giving it expression.

The lotus raises its head and blooms forth even through slush. Love is the lotus bloom of everyone's life. Rather than meeting hate with hate, let's meet hate with love. Love dissolves differences and unites. Love creates bonding and harmony; hate separates. Only love can work miracles of transformation.

It is important to understand the true nature of love. It is not about a passing infatuation or attraction for certain individuals only . It is the truth of your nature. It is the truth of your heart. We tend to limit love to family members and friends, because we feel kinship with them. We have to extend this kinship to humani ty as a whole, because we are all one. We are all interconnected.

Every religion of the world recognises this truth and enjoins followers to love all and serve all. Yet there are those who misinterpret these positive messages and instead, take a negative perspective that leads to misunderstanding and distress.

How to access this treasure, love, which is so rich, expansive and all-embracing? We can get love through the conduit of divine love. Sweeter than the sweetest is this love of the Divine. It is so because it is the reflection of God in us, and it is the purest experience of bliss on earth. Also, when we turn our love to God it spontaneously expands to cover His creation too. By loving God we manifest our highest truth and feel harmonious with ourselves and all others. Our heart centre opens, and we recognise the common thread of divinity binding all hearts, irrespective of caste, colour, creed or nationality.

Baba says, “Embark on this path of love. Regard love as your very lifebreath and the sole purpose of your existence. In doing this, experience pure bliss, that is shoreless, indescribable and everlasting.“ Post your comments at The Speaking Tree is also available as an 8 page newspaper every Sunday for Rs 3. Magical Musical Performance by Sri Shivamani & his group

Magical Musical Performance by Sri Shivamani & his group

It was an evening to remember. The program began around 5.30 pm with the soul lifting bhajans by the devotees of Mumbai. After the lighting of the lamps, the Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas of Mumbai put up a superlative and memorable performance of the drama on "The Life and Message of Swami"

Kudos to all the Balvikas children, gurus and parents for putting their very best to make the program a grand success. The audio visual projection added to the success of the program.

A scintillating musical performance by Sri Shivamani and his group was put up.

Sri. Shivamani, the well known drummer, presented a mind blowing performance and enthralled the vast audience, drawing repeated applause from the devotees.

The drums are the essential backbone of a band. A good drummer keeps the audience engaged and bobbing their heads along to the beat. Shri Shivamani was at his creative and awesome best and it was amazing watching him. He brought momentum and excitement to his drumming. Very few drummers can honestly claim to have experience in every given style of music, from rock to jazz to metal to classical, but his capability covers the gamut of all music. It’s no wonder that when he completed his allotted time, everyone asked for an encore. He had this ability to make a band sway and groove like no other.

At the end of his session he thanked Bhagawan and also the Sai devotees for giving him the opportunity to perform once again at Dharmakshetra ....

The programm concluded with the Maha Mangal Aarati to Bhagawan around 8.15 pm.

The success of the program can be attributed to fantastic teamwork which was thoroughly professional all the way.

Ladies Day Celebrated at Dharmakshetra - 19th November, 2015

19th November is being observed as Ladies Day. Ladies Day is celebrated to make you understand the value of mother's love and her concern for you. You owe your existence to your mother.

"The Bhagavad Gita says that a woman has seven qualities, whereas a man has only three. So, never look down upon women. They are most virtuous. They are the very embodiments of nature.

Men should realise the high status of women and honour and respect them accordingly. They should not make women weep and shed tears. A home where the woman sheds tears will be ruined. Men should give an honourable place for women and a respectable life.

Today Ladies Day was celebrated at Dharmakshetra. The programme began at 5.30 pm with the Chantings.

Ms. Priyamvada Doshi was the chief guest. She spoke about the "Role of Woman in Society"

Thereafter, there were bhajans sung by Mahilas of the various Samithis followed by felicitation of Ms.Doshi.

The programme concluded around 7.15 pm with Maha Arti

Glorious culmination of Akhanda Bhajan at Shanti Deep, Dharmakshetra on Sunday 15th November, 2015

The Global Akhanda Bhajan is a very powerful spiritual Sadhana given to us by Bhagawan to bring humanity together.

Bhagwan had mentioned in one of his discourses: "Bhajan must spread good-will, love, ecstasy; it must cleanse the polluted atmosphere; it must invite all to share in the joy and peace. ... Fill every moment with energy, enthusiasm and effort.”

Today the entire atmosphere at Shanti Deep, Dharmakshetra was full of "Divine Vibrations". One could feel the "Divine Energies" emanating from all those who had participated in the lively and enthusiastic bhajan session today. It was pure ecstasy....

At the end of the bhajan, Bhagawan's favourite Bhajan "Sai Bhajana Bina Sukha Shanti Nahi" was played.

The Global Akhanda Bhajan came to a grand culmination with Maha Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan at Shanti Deep, Dharmakshetra.

This was followed by prasadam consisting of tamarind rice/sweet rice and ladoo which was distributed to the entire assemblage of devotees.

Global Akhand Bhajan, Dharmakshetra - November 14, 2015

Global Akhanda Bhajan, the timeless intonation promoting Universal Peace ...

The Global 24-hour Akhand Bhajan started in 1944, in the home of the late Dr. R.S. Padmanabhan of Bangalore, where nine families met in the presence of Sri Sathya Sai Baba to conduct the bhajan. From that humble beginning attended by 150 people, this Bhajan is now conducted every year around the same time, at Sai centres all over India and in 126 countries in the world.

This is in keeping with Sri Sathya Sai Baba's sentiments that he expressed during a discourse in 1986:

"We are having non-stop 24-hour global devotional singing by Sai devotees all over the world. This is being done not for the sake of one individual, one nation or one community. It is for the welfare of humanity as a whole."

The 24 hours non-stop Global Akhanda Bhajan held at Shanti Deep, Dharmakhetra commenced with the Veda Chanting followed by soul-stirring bhajans by devotees of Mumbai on 14th Novmber, 2015.
