As India sets 2 new Guinness world records on Yoga Day with 35,985 participants performing asanas at one venue and 84 nationalities being part of it, it was also observed in many Sai Centres all over the globe including Prasanthi Nilayam and Dharmakshetra.

One fine example of what exactly Yoga is has been very beautifully defined by Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba - " You can hear the footsteps of God when silence reigns in the mind.”

June 21 was declared as the International Day of Yoga by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice or discipline that originated in India. In suggesting June 21, which is the Summer Solstice, as the International Day of Yoga, Narendra Modi had said that the date is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and has special significance in many parts of the world.

From the perspective of yoga, the Summer Solstice marks the transition to Dakshinayana. The first full moon after Summer Solstice is known as Guru Poornima. According to Sadhguru, Lord Shiva, the first yoga practitioner(Adi Yogi) is said to have begun imparting the knowledge of yoga to the rest of mankind on this day and became the first guru (Adi Guru). Dakshinayana is also considered a time when there is natural support for those pursuing spiritual practices.

The declaration of this day came after the call for the adoption of 21 June as International Day of Yoga by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to UN General Assembly on September 27, 2014 wherein he stated:

"Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. This tradition is 5000 years old. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us deal with climate change. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day."

Mother Easwaramma Scholarship awarded to the Girl Students at Dharmakshetra - 21st June 2015

One of the significant programmes of the Mother Easwaramma Foundation is the Mother Easwaramma Scholarship for the Girl Students. The girl child in India is often the most neglected member of the family. In many families, which are below the poverty line, the girl child is required to drop out of school and become an earning member well before she attains the age of majority. To encourage deserving girl children to pursue their academic ambitions and goals, the Mother Easwaramma Scholarship was instituted in the year 2000.

Distinct parameters are laid down, on the fulfilment of which, the scholarship is awarded, under this programme.

It is resolved to award this scholarship to the deserving Girl students. Please view the photos of the girl-students receiving this scholarship at Shanti Deep, Dharmakshetra on 21st June 2015

Living with God, living for God, living in God

Man since times immemorial has been in quest of God. Man has been in search of happiness from the beginning of this creation. God can only be realized. God cannot be experimented upon. God can only be experienced. Bhagawan gave the answer: "God is Love. Love is God. Live in Love.

Sri Sanjay Sahni very beautifully narrated the above subject, his innumerable experiences with Swami, to the devotees assembled here at Pushpa Kunj, Churchgate on 25th May, 2015....

In short living with God he said is education, Living for God is service and living in God is surrender.
